Welcome back

It's been eight long months, but Tiger Woods announced yesterday that he was ready to make his return to the PGA Tour.

While the world's top player was recovering from knee surgery, I really thought we'd see one of the Tour's young players step up and make a big name for himself.  For some reason, that never happened. Instead, we had 38-year-old Padraig Harrington win the final two majors of the year, not exactly a sign for the future.

Sergio, Phil, Anthony, and all the other great players under the age of 30 had their shot, but Tiger is returning healthy and rested.  Good luck guys.

Is it a surprise that Woods chose the Accenture Match Play Championships to make his return?  He won the even last year and it's not nearly as grueling to play as a regular Tour event, because a lost hole here or there can be recovered from.  When it comes to match play, Tiger typically finds a way to win.

There have been a lot of pundits talking over the last few weeks about how many tournaments and how many majors Tiger might be able to win this year.  The truth is, no one knows what his swing will look like or how rusty he might be.  I say we all just sit back and enjoy the show.

Welcome back to work, Mr. Woods.

In addition to owning Northwest Golf Adventures, I've been writing golf and travel articles since 2000. My main focus has always been golf in the Pacific Northwest, but I've had stories appear in association magazines across the country, several national publications and on radio and television. I'm always looking for great stories to write about!
