True golf dedication

My wife and I had to drive to Leavenworth, Washington for a wedding this weekend. Now you're probably wondering how I could come up with a golf related blog entry for a place like Leavenworth, a town covered in ice and snow throughout the Winter.
I wouldn't have thought I could come up with anything, especially with the courses in the area closed to golfers. But, standing outside our condo and looking out over the playing fields below, I found inspiration.
Standing in the middle of the snow covered field were a man and his two black labradors. At his side, an old-school push cart and a bag of golf clubs. I watched this guy hit ball after ball off the frozen ground, relying on the dogs to run out and bring the balls back.
With the temperature hovering around 27 degrees, it seemed insane that someone would spend over an hour hittings golf balls. But it actually made me feel guilty for all the times I decided it was just too cold to play golf at home when it was probably well above freezing and there wasn't a trace of snow on the ground.
I think this should be a lesson to everyone who loves to spend time on the links. Don't be a fair weather golfer, grab any chance you can to get out and play or practice. I think you'll appreciate it in the end.
