Same old, same old from Tiger

I won't lie, I didn't really want to listen to the Tiger Woods press conference. I figured I could just wait until the recap was released or the press release was posted on TigerWoods.com. But, you never know, something unexpected could happen, so I decided to tune in.
I should have followed by instincts. It was more of the same from Tiger.
He apologized for his indiscretions, but continued to maintain that everything would be worked out between he and his wife. In private. No questions asked.
Is that enough for the public? Is that enough for the fans and the sponsors who have supported him over the last decade plus?
Sadly, I believe that it will be. For a lot of people watching, Tiger looked like a remorseful and deeply tormented person. He looked like someone searching for words, despite having his carefully scripted response in front of him. He looked like someone who was owning up to his mistakes and seeking to rid himself of demons. Tiger no doubt won some fans back over to his side with Friday's remarks.
In the end, though, it was just Tiger being Tiger. He reminded us that, despite the eggregious and sordid ways in which he fell from grace, he's a private person and refuses to let the public into his life. He hasn't fielded any questions about his transgresions and he's not going to. Now, more than ever, Tiger needs to let us in and give golf fans around the world a glimpse behind the curtain, let us see the wizard.
Until that happens, I'll have a hard time cheering for him when he comes back. I have a bad feeling I'll be in the minority, though.
